Advance Your Career With a Concordia BSN
There are three distinct tracks through which you can obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Concordia University Texas:
Traditional BSN Track
The Traditional BSN track has two phases:
A required sequence consists of courses in the sciences and humanities that provide students with a solid foundation for the art and science of caring for others. Within one semester of completing the Pre-Nursing Sequence, students apply for admission to the Professional Nursing Sequence in the College of Nursing. Students taking these courses are enrolled with a Pre-Nursing major. Upon acceptance into the nursing program, the student will switch to a Nursing major.
Admission to the Concordia University Texas College of Nursing is highly competitive. We recommend maintaining communication with your faculty advisor throughout the process if you are a current Concordia student or your transfer admissions counselor for transfer students coming directly into Professional Nursing Sequence.
BSN Direct Entry Track
Incoming freshmen who have been admitted to Concordia as Pre-Nursing majors will be evaluated to determine their eligibility for direct admission into the BSN program. Qualifying freshmen are guaranteed a spot in the BSN program and additional support throughout the program.
The admissions counselors invite eligible students to apply to the BSN Direct Entry program. If you are granted admission to the program, your spot in the BSN program is secure as long as you meet the final requirements before beginning nursing/clinical work, which includes successfully completing the Pre-Nursing courses.
Accelerated BSN Track
To qualify for the online-based Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) track, students must have previous college experience in a non-nursing field.
Students complete coursework online, participate in nursing simulation and skills labs at our ABSN Learning Sites in Austin and Dallas, and complete in-hospital clinical rotations as part of a blended curriculum.
Nursing Admission
Students who transfer to Concordia seeking admission to the nursing program are initially advised by their admissions counselor and then by a Pre-Nursing faculty advisor once a student enrolls at Concordia.
Once a student is in the final semester of the Pre-Nursing Sequence, they can apply for admission into the School of Nursing. Transfer students may apply in the final semester of prerequisite coursework (as determined by their Concordia admissions counselor).
You can complete the supplemental Nursing form within the admissions application portal. Admission into the Nursing program requires a minimum natural science GPA of 3.0 and a pre-nursing requirements cumulative GPA of 3.0.
