Better is our mission, improving lives through personalized health and care.

    Vision:

Our vision is to deliver world class care; making life better for the communities we are privileged to serve.

San Juan Regional Medical Center is a community owned and operated hospital located in the beautiful San Juan River Valley in northwest New Mexico. A non-profit hospital serving the Four Corners area of New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah, we have a rich heritage dating back to before New Mexico was a state. In 1910, two physicians, Dr. G.W. Sammons and Dr. A.M. Smith, saw a community need for quality healthcare close to home. They started an eight-bed hospital so patients would not have to travel the treacherous 50 miles to Durango, Colorado. Today, the focus on serving the community with quality healthcare services remains, although our hospital has grown into a 198 bed, level III trauma center including state-of-the-art operating suites and 165 private patient rooms with fresh air balconies. As a 340B hospital, SJRMC is committed to good stewardship principles to enhance services and care for our patients.

As a values-driven organization, our mission, vision and core values direct decisions, whether the decision is about the care of an individual patient, or how services are expanded to meet the needs of the community. We focus on personalizing the care we deliver to a diverse population of patients and communities. Our core values of Sacred Trust, Personal Reverence, Thoughtful Anticipation, Creative Vitality and Team Accountability enable us to provide the personalized care that lies at the heart of our mission.

Our approach is to satisfy the expectations of our patients and attract and retain leading physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. San Juan Regional Medical Center is committed to integrating advanced medical technologies and to continually improve patient care while keeping safety at the forefront of all we do. We are a Certified Primary Stroke Center, ready to handle a full range of stroke-related medical problems. We are also a full Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI V6 Accreditation. Hospitals that have earned this accreditation have proven exceptional competency in treating patients with heart attack symptoms and have primary PCI available 24/7 every day of the year through our cardiac cath lab. Our core value of Sacred Trust calls everyone who works for San Juan Regional Medical Center to live, breathe, and create a culture of safety- safety for the patients we serve and safety for each other.

In addition, SJRMC provides quality medical care regardless of race, creed, gender, national origin, disability, age, or ability to pay. Our hospital provides charity care and discounts through a community service fund upon application. No person is refused care because of an inability to pay. SJRMC provides care to patients covered by Medicare or Medicaid and is a Medicaid provider for New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah.
