    Our Magnet Recognition

    UI Hospitals & Clinics was the first hospital in Iowa to be designated a Magnet Hospital (2004) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the first hospital in Iowa to be re-designated three times (2008, 2013 and 2018).

    Recognition for Our Services

    University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics—recognized as one of the best hospitals in the United States—is Iowa's only comprehensive academic medical center and a regional referral center. In 2021-2022 four of our adult care specialties were ranked, including one in the top 10 among the nation’s best, including ophthalmology (7th), otolaryngology (23rd), gynecology (41st), and cancer (47th). Six additional specialties, endocrinology, gastroenterology, geriatrics, orthopedics, pulmonary, and urology, were listed as "high-performing."

UI Hospitals & Clinics and UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital together deliver quality care in collaboration with University of Iowa Physicians, the state's largest multi-specialty medical and surgical group practice composed of faculty physicians of UI Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine. These partners work together as University of Iowa Health Care, to provide patient care, conduct biomedical research, and train the next generation of health professionals.
